Abraham's People launched at the Norfolk
Last Wednesday, The Norfolk Hotel hosted the launch of the book: Abraham's People , which is a chronicle about the life of Abraham Block, a former owner of the Norfolk Hotel, and that of his family members. The book was written by Jane Claire Barsby . In attendance were the family members, including Abraham's son, Tubby Block and daughter Ruth Block . Maha Shivaratri celebrated in Nairobi
The Art of Living Foundation Kenya celebrated Maha Shivaratri on Thursday at the SSD Temple, Westlands. Upon entry every guest receive a tilak or welcome sign on their forehead. Swami Shivchaitanya explained the importance of the celebrations. He gave insight into what is Maha Shivaratri and who Lord Shiva was, for example, he mentioned "only in the depth of meditation you can know what Shiva is". Maha Shivaratri is celebrated as a birthday and in remembrance of Lord Shiva.

Amara Charitable Trust host movie night
The Amara Charitable Trust was registered in October 2008 with the aim of enhancing the lives of the rural people in Kenya by being the instruments to bring water to communities in arid and semi arid areas in Kenya. They held a charity film show at the Fox Sarit Centre on Friday. The event was sponsored by Tausi Assurance, Raka Milk Processors Limited and Victoria Commercial Bank. The much awaited film Shaadi Ke Side Effects is a Bollywood romance comedy film directed by Saket Chaudhary and starring Farhan Akhtar alongside Vidya Balan in lead roles.

Pearl Koroga is Back!
The first edition of Pearl Koroga 2014 was held last Sunday at the Mystique Gardens in Nairobi. The Koroga teams are headed by East FM presenters and made up of between 6-10 members. The teams had to make one dish using Pearl Rice, one vegetarian dish using Raka Paneer and fish or chicken. Most teams went all out preparing an array of mouthwatering dishes. The judges had a difficult time deciding on the day's winners.

The Jamii Telekom Golf Day
The Karen County club in Nairobi was the home of the Jamii Telecom Masters Tournament with professionals and Jamii Telecom clients playing for various prizes. The annual event takes place a week before the Kenya Open golf tournament to prepare the professionals for Kenya's marquee golf event. An exciting race day at Ngong Racecourse
Sunday was am exciting day at the Ngong Racecourse in Nairobi as yet another race day beckoned with eleven races on the cards. The biggest winner of the day was jockey Leslie Sercombe who won three of the big races; the Mickey Migdoll Mile, the Ultra Sharp trophy and the Geoffrey Griffin trophy. She also came second in two other races. The rooftop of the Best Western Hotel in Nairobi was the site of a unique party as astronomy enthusiasts met to watch the skies around the city together on Thursday evening.
