Kenyan born Rhodia Mann first discovered glass beads on a Zanzibar beach at the age of 12, beginning a life-long passion. She went on to become a New York jewelry designer traveling around Africa and Asia in search of beads to make her one-off designs for her numerous exhibition s. In 1981, the pull to Kenya was strong and she returned toin 2012 by a book Ushanga: The Story of Beads in Africa .
