On Tuesday afternoon Southern Sudan marked their second Independence day at an event at the Railway Club Nairobi. They also paid tribute to their fallen hero John Ngarang de Mabiror. Speaking at the event, Southern Sudanese ambassador Majok Guandong thanked his countrymen and women for standing for patriotism as they look forward to a more united and democratic country born two years ago. “The people of Southern Sudan are grateful for the Republic of Kenya for their support during the peace process that culminated to secession after long years of searching for peace”, he said.
